Introduction

Dr. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is a well-known name in the cultural sphere of Karnataka, India. His creativity is multi-dimensional – he is a prolific writer (fiction, non-fiction), script writer, producer, film maker (feature and documentary), lyricist, travelogue writer, and columnist all rolled into one.

He is a socially conscientious personality; having been an active part of various pro-people movements. He has travelled to more than forty countries across the globe and currently lives in Bangalore, India.

Education

Post Graduation in Kannada Literature from Mysore University, India (Recipient of 8 gold medals and 2 cash awards in 1985)

Profession

Served as a professor of Kannada Literature for over a decade, now into direction and production of films/TV, authors books, visiting Professor at Mysore University, runs a film school called Tent Cinema in Bangalore

Social Activities
  • Donated a library, a computer centre, and an open air theatre to the government primary school of Nagathihalli, Mandya district in 2004
  • Founder of Vivekananda Youth Club at Nagathihalli village in Karnataka in the year 1977. Through this club, many rural activities like educating farmers on modern agriculture methods, bringing awareness among villages on primary health care, assisting village women in skill development and making them self-employed have been initiated
  • Founder chairman of Abhivyakthi, a cultural forum, which is involved in the publication of more than 50 books from various writers, and in promoting simple inter-caste, inter-religion and widow marriages and other social issues like uplifting rural women towards better economic empowerment through education and culture
